The following self-test as a tool for webmasters and webmistresses to measure their site qualifications against the SMHAI minimum Criteria.

Passing this test does not guarantee your site an award.

Memorial sites are judged differently and should not use this self-test. If you feel you have a "Beautiful Memorial Site", we encourage you to apply when you feel your site is complete. (We understand that websites are a continous work of art but please avoid "Under Construction" signs.)

Did you read and understand the SMHAI Criteria? Is the information on your site reliable, credible information and educational or of interest to the public? Are you at least 14 years old? Is your site free of pornography, and/or any other disqualifying material as described in the SMHAI Criteria? Is your site content relevant to the site theme? Does your site have an awards page where the SMHAI Award can be displayed? Is your layout and design consistent throughout your site? Do you use the same font style and size in all pages? (Minimal variations in size - page headers and titles may have a different size) Are the graphics original, good quality and related to the content? Does your site contain at least 5 pages of interesting and educational or informative content? (Excluding link and award pages) Does your site provide C.O.P.P.A., credits, privacy and copyright statements? Is the webmaster's knowledge and passion of site theme exhibited throughout the site? Is your site accessible to all? (Passwords or fees are not required) Is the navigation consistent, operational and easy to find? Is your site consistently updated to delete internal broken links or missing graphics? (No red X's in their place) Your site does not display 'under construction' signs? (Websites are a continuous work of art) Does your site keep the interest of visitors? Does your site include validation with: Safe Surf, Apex, ICRA, W3C, and Bobby etc.? Do you give credit to borrowed contents and graphics? (No copyright infringement) Your site does not require the usage of back buttons? (Appropriate navigation available at the bottom of long pages) Do you provide the date your site was launched and last updated on your site? (Must be on the main page - minimum) Does your site load fully in a reasonable amount of time? (Some of your visitors may be using a dial-up connection) Is your site free of spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors?
